Tax Services Lyndhurst

Lyndhurst, OH is a city located in Cuyahoga County, an eastern suburb of the city of Cleveland and part of the Euclid Township. As of the 2010 Census, the population in Lyndhurst was 14,001. The city contains 4.6 square miles and is located to the East of South Euclid and Cleveland Heights, West of Mayfield and Mayfield Heights, North of Beachwood, and South of Euclid, Richmond Heights, and Northeast of University Heights. Located just 11 miles from the city of Cleveland, Lyndhurst preserves its small-town feel while remaining close to all the big city has to offer.

The city was settled by German immigrants who emphasized agriculture back before World War I. In 1922, thanks to the installation of water mains and the increased availability of automobiles, Lyndhurst began to grow and flourish. The town grew from a population of 288 in 1920 to 2,400 in 1940. The suburb saw even more expansion and growth during the period between World War II and 1970 when the population peaked at 19,800. Residents of Lyndhurst have always enjoyed the residential, small-town feel that this neighborhood provides, which has helped to continue to fuel its growth.

Lyndhurst has enjoyed a long, prosperous history that has brought the suburb to where it is today. The land Lyndhurst is located on used to be part of the Western Reserve, which was obtained via treaty with the Iroquois Indian tribe in 1796 by the Connecticut Land Company. Because of this, Lyndhurst’s population consisted mostly of Native American Indians until after the war of 1812. In 1828, Euclid Township was divided into nine districts, with Lyndhurst becoming district four.

The earliest industry in the area, as was in many areas at this time, was farming thanks to its rich soil and wealth of natural resources. As the area continued to grow and thrive, it became known as Euclidville Village, however, that name changed to Lyndhurst Village in 1920 and it was incorporated as a city in 1921. Starting in 1877, the main corridor has been Mayfield Road, which today is known as U.S. Route 322. This was initially a wood-planked toll road, but today it’s home to many retailers and restaurants.
